About

My name is Janico Greifenberg. I’m a programmer and computer scientist living in northern Germany. I’ve been fascinated by computers for well over 20 years now, starting with playing games, but ending up programming anything but games. I received a diploma in computer science from the University of Bremen in 2005.

For a while, I did research on computer networks (publishing a few papers), but currently I’m interested in anything having to do with creating good software including programming languages, algorithms, software design, and project management. And that’s what this blog is about.

I’m working as technical lead for Dampsoft, but this blog my private project. If you’re interested in anything Dampsoft-related, move along, there’s nothing to see here.

Apart from programming, I enjoy reading, Heavy Metal, and long-distance running. But this blog has nothing to do with that either.

What about the monkeys?

Well, monkeys are funny. Also, ibis and baboon are the sacred animals of Toth, the ancient Egyptian god of scribes. This is an allusion to another interest of mine: history in general and ancient Egypt in particular.
